EDGE OF NOSTALGIA
EDGE OF NOSTALGIA
Edge of Nostalgia is a collection I created based on the photos of my grandparents in the mid 60's-70's. This was the time my grandparents were at their prime. Established in the medical field and traveling to America often. Always dressed to the nines, I wanted to convey my own style in theirs. Keeping their simple silhouettes in toe with my own love of textures and edge to it.
Into the Collection...
I was truly inspired by the photographs, that I even took the texture of the old film photos as the inspiration for my fabric selection. Grainy, high contrast of light and dark colors, faded and heavy in the dark areas. As said in the moodboard, I wanted all aspects of the photo to feel like it would be either I would be stepping into the photograph or the photo making sense into our modern world.

BEAUTY DOWN BELOW
BEAUTY DOWN BELOW
Beauty down below is a collection based on the play of the juxtaposition of light through objects creating opposing harsh geometric lines with faded and blurred images. It is called as such because at the time that I've taken notice of these two opposing elements, they seem to be more evident on the ground where no one is paying attention at. Texture is heavily evident in all my personal collections. In this one specifically, is also the contrast of the translucence of light with the heavy lines the shadow creates.
Into the Collection...
Metal plays a huge part in my collection as it was one of the elements I found to heavily contrast to the lightness of the overall aspect of the collection, questioning the femininity of its entirety as it was styled with very masculine objects.
As my very first collection, this collection was my pride and glory. Presenting myself for the very first time in the fashion industry as a new designer, I know I have presented myself well in my vision and intention as a designer.
